Instructions

1

Stir together flour, yeast, sugar, salt and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl.

2

Knead dough by hand for 4-5 minutes or using a stand mixer with dough hook attachment for 2-3 minutes. After kneading, the dough should still feel a little soft and slightly springy. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap.

3

Allow dough to rise for 10 minutes, until puffy.

4

Punch dough down to release the air. Using floured hands on a lightly floured work surface, shape the dough into a 16"x 5" log. Using a very sharp knife or bench scraper, slice into 16 1-inch strips. Roll each strip into 8-inch ropes. Tie each rope into knots.

5

Arrange the knots on 2 parchment paper-lined baking sheets.

6

Lightly cover the shaped knots and allow to rest for 30 minutes. Towards the end of the rise time, preheat the oven to 400°F.

7

Stir together the melted butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt.

8

Brush the butter mixture on the knots. Reserve some topping.

9

Bake for about 18-22 minutes or until golden brown on top. Remove from the oven and brush the warm knots with remaining topping.

10

Serve and enjoy!
